When you take the record out, ‘featuring’ changes to ‘Starring’, and you soon learn that there are no character voices, just Fred Flintstone & Huckleberry Hound tearing up some organ and chimes while Snagglepuss lays down the funky bass*.

Tumblr apparently feels that it’s acceptable to dress me up and make me feel retarded, despite the fact that we’re not married. I didn’t choose to Claus up my avatar, and I can’t find any way to get rid of it. I even changed my avatar, to no avail. Is it like a virus? Will it go away on its own if I just kick back and pound nog?

Frank Zappa - the true reason for the season.

Okay. Hear me out. We all know that xmas is really an ancient pagan celebration of Winter Solstice, retrofitted with Jesus after christianity overtook Europe, right? And because the Roman Empire was always tweaking the calendar, December 25th was thought to be the Solstice, and they celebrated this as the festival of Natalis Invictus, the birth of Sol Invictus, the god of the unconquerable sun. The Catholic church co-opted this celebration by swapping their own god for the ancient sun god, although biblical scholars agree that the few clues in the bible referring to the birth of Jesus pretty much disqualify Winter Solstice as the timeframe for that event.

So, the day of the year we’re really celebrating is Winter Solstice, which is really December 21st, and the god actually born on this day was Frank Zappa.

Somebody got a new Sunday hat.

When I’m in the kitchen, my cats like to stand about two inches away from my feet because they apparently can’t get enough of me stepping on their paws and tails. This morning I put this turnip top on Laney’s head and he wore it for a good half hour before shaking it off.
